For teachers of young children 3 - kindergarten age Want to provide valuable experiences using open-ended materials that spark a child’s creativity, imagination, language, cognitive, motor and social-emotional development? Introduce "loose parts" into your classroom! Loose parts are defined as "materials that can be moved, carried, combined, redesigned, lined up, and taken apart and put back together in multiple ways. Loose parts can be used alone or combined with other materials. There is no set of specific directions for materials that are considered loose parts. The child is the direction." (Statement retrieved from PennState Extension article titled- Loose Parts: What Does This Mean?). This workshop will provide ideas and strategies for incorporating loose parts into your classroom program.
